DIY Diffuser

Can’t afford a diffuser right now? Here are some great ideas for low budget or inexpensive way to diffuse your essential oils. Some of them can be portable or mobile while you are out and about!

Create your own necklace with clay or terracotta. Or ask a friend who does pottery to do it for you.  Allow beads to dry 24 to 48 hours, then add oil and begin use.

Add two to three drops of essential oil to leather jewellery to enjoy a beautiful scent throughout the day.

For fresh smelling laundry, add five drops of your favourite essential oil to a clean face washer and place in dryer while clothes are drying.

Place dried flowers or leaves in a bowl and add a couple of drops of essential oils. This is pretty much making your own potpourri.

Pick a jar or vase with a small mouth inside, add one quarter cup fractionated coconut oil and 20 to 25 drops of your favourite essential oils.

Note: Get water beads online, or in a craft store. Pour water on beads to let them expand (leave for 24 hours), drain remaining water and add three to five drops of essential oil every few days.

Soak wooden skewers in essential oils for a few hours and place in garden or posts to help keep insects away. Suggested oils: Peppermint, Arborvitae, Rosemary and Cedarwood.

Take a stray sock. Roll it in a ball, turn the outer cuff around the ball, apply your favourite essential oil. These sit quietly in your dresser drawer or closet and when you are tired of it – simply toss it out!

Apply 5 to 10 drops of essential oil to face cloth and place on the shower floor in a place where the falling water gently grazes it without it being a direct hit (to prevent the oils from evaporating into steam too quickly).Turn the shower as hot as possible to build up steam. Once there is an adequate amount, turn the water to your preferred temperature and enjoy.
