Chill Out The Kids With Aromatherapy play dough!

Follow this basic recipe for play dough, then add 3 or less essential oils to the mix.
You can use your favourite essential oil blends that you find create harmony for the kiddies.
You can create a few different batches and colour code them. You can help anxiety, get them to sleep earlier, stimulate a fussy appetite or just get them to calm down a bit.

To make the dough you will need:

• 1 cup flour
• 1/3 cup salt
• 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
• 1 cup water
• 1 tablespoon coconut oil
• food colouring. It usually only takes a few drops to get super vibrant colours.
• 10-20 drops essential oil (You pick the oils).

step 1: in a saucepan or skillet add 1 cup flour, 1/3 cup salt, and 2 teaspoons cream of tartar

step 2: add 1 cup of water

step 3: add 1 tablespoon of oil. Then turn your stove top burner onto low and stir the mixture well.

step 4: Before the dough mixture gets too thick, add a few drops of food colouring and stir it in well.

step 5: Now that the food colouring is mixed in, turn up the heat, set your burner to medium low.
*Stir constantly. Make sure to scrape the bottom of the pan as you stir.
*The dough is going to start to thicken. Continue stirring and scraping the bottom of the pan. It could take anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 minutes for the play dough to fully thicken.
*When the dough comes away from the sides of the pan and isn’t wet anymore, remove the play dough from the pan.

step 6: remove the play dough from the pan and put it on a piece of waxed paper to cool for about 30 minutes. *After the dough has cooled, knead the dough in your hands for a minute or so until it’s elastic and smooth.

step 7: add 10-20 drops essential oil through poked holes, then knead the dough to mix the oils throughout the play dough

step 8: store the aromatherapy play dough in an airtight container.
